I, like so many, have had cancer touch my life in one way or another but, never did I think it would be me. My story began December 2o, 2008 when my son Ryker passed away. Only 8 days before my due date, he was born still. I left the hospital with empty arms. As a result of my pregnancy, just 40 days later, I was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma. A malignant and aggressive cancer that stems from the placenta. Within 15 hours of receiving that news, I started chemotherapy. On the same day I received my diagnosis, my brother-inlaw John was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) an uncommon type of cancer of the blood cells. John too, is bravely battling back with continued treatment.

I am walking to honour all those who are touched by cancer. And I am walking in honour of my family and friends who's love and support has no limits. It is so hard to find the right words to express how thankful I am for everything that they do. For my daughter and fiance who keep me positive and excited about our future together. I could not do this without them.

So, I’m taking the Challenge – CancerCare’s Challenge for Life! By participating in this “Made-in-Manitoba” event. I would love to have you join me in the Challenge – either by registering to walk or supporting me with a donation.
